Policies and Procedures
Registration:A non-refundable fee is required yearly at time of registration.
Payment of fees:Tuition must be paid by or automatic credit/debit card payment or a set of post-dated checks.
Payment by Debit or Credit Card Charge: Tuition will be charged to your credit or debit card on the 1st, 5th or 15th day of each month from September-June. The month of September is non-refundable. You must sign an auto-debit or automatic credit card charge authorization form. Payment must be made by pre-authorized automatic monthly payment. Only regular monthly fees may be paid by auto-debit or credit card. Incidentals fee such as costume and competition fees must be paid by check, cash, or in-person credit or debit card.
Payment by Post-Dated Checks: Tuition must be paid by a series of postdated checks dated for the 1st, 5th, or 15th of each month (eg. Sept. 1, Oct 1, etc). Checks should be made payable to Starlite Dance Academy. All checks must be received upon registration to confirm lesson time. Failure to provide all the post-dated checks will result in an extra fee of $10 per month. All NSF checks will be charged a $20 NSF fee. The month of September is non-refundable.
Withdrawal and Refunds:There is a two-month minimum for all lessons. One-month notice from the first of the month is required to discontinue any classes. Withdrawal must be done in person and will not be accepted over the phone. Withdrawal must be done at the school office and not with the teacher. Withdrawal must occur within the first 7 days of the month. No withdrawals will be accepted after April 1st. To withdraw from classes a parent or adult student must:
- Inform school administration in person, and
- Complete and sign a withdrawal form provided by the school office
All unprocessed checks, dated after the one month notice period, will be returned. All automatic bank debiting or credit card charges will stop after the one-month notice period. Starlite Dance Academy reserves the right to terminate lessons to any students without notice. In such a case a fund for unused lessons will be given.
Extreme Weather or unexpected interruption of classes:
If the school must cancel classes due to extreme weather or events beyond our control such as power outages, the missed lessons will be added on to the end of the teaching year or re-scheduled for a later date. No refunds for lessons missed due to these reasons will be given.
Required dancewear and dance shoes must be worn to all classes. Failure to wear required dancewear to class could result in a student being asked to sit out the class. Repeated failure to wear required dancewear could result in termination of lessons. Students are not permitted to wear jeans or shoes worn on the street or outdoors, to any dance class. For safety reasons dancers are not permitted to wear jewelry. Long/distracting hair must be tied back.
Attendance and Lateness:
The school reserves the right to have students who come late to class, sit out the class. Repeated lateness may result in termination of lessons. A minimum attendance level will be required. If a student misses more that 4 classes without written notices, the school reserves the right to terminate lessons. Students missing more than 4 classes after January will not be allowed to participate in the year-end dance recital, festivals or competitions.
Parent's Responsibility to be Aware of Dates and Events:
It is the responsibility of the parent or adult student to be aware of all school activities, such as viewing days, recitals, extra classes, and dates the school is open or closed. The school will post all such notices on the bulletin boards located in the lobby and the waiting room as well as sending notices home with the students. It is the parent's responsibility to regularly check these boards to ensure they are informed. Parents and dancers should also check with the front desk for any information they may require. It is the responsibility of the parents or adult students to inform the school of any address or telephone number change.
Care of Students:
The school is not responsible for providing before or after classes care for students. Students are not to be left at the school for excessive time before or after class.
Parents, legal guardians of minor students and adult students waive the right to any legal action for any injury sustained on school property resulting from normal dance activity or any other activity conducted by the students before, during or after class time.
The school is hereby granted permission to take photographs of the students to use in brochures, web sites, posters, advertisements and other promotional materials the school creates. Permission is also hereby granted for the school to copyright such photographs in its name.
Parents and all students are to be aware that the school promotes healthy body/self image among the students. Negative discussion and/or remarks concerning a student will not be tolerated by the school.
We have a closed circuit camera for observation. Occasionally, parents may be invited into the classroom at the end of class to observe routines, etc. Parents will also be welcome to observe class every six weeks. A calendar will be a available and memo will be sent home to remind you of these dates.
Outside Food and Drink:
There will be no outside food or drink admitted in the studio (with the exception of a non-spillable water bottle) unless it has been previously approved by the instructor for birthday parties or other special events. This will be strictly enforced.
The school expects that students will practice what they have learned in class so they can progress at each lesson. If dancers would like their music from class to practice Starlite Dance Academy will provide CD's for $2.00 each. (Please allow one week after ordering for the CD to be processed.)
If dancers arrive early for class, please remain in the common area until the previous class has been excused. Please show other dancers the respect you would like to be shown.
